Guided Nature Hike with Catchacoma Forest Stewardship Committee and Haliburton Land Trust

Saturday, June 24, 2023 – 1 to 4 pm

Join the Wilderness Committee, Catchacoma Forest Stewardship Committee and Haliburton Land Trust for a guided hike in an old growth hemlock forest north of Catchacoma Lake in Peterborough County.

  • Learn about what makes old growth forest special and efforts to protect it.
  • Hear about the Haliburton Highlands Corridor protection project led by Haliburton Land Trust to connect Queen Elizabeth II and Kawartha Highlands Provincial Parks.
  • Interact with old trees, and find out about the wildlife that call this forest home!
  • Discover the trails and wetlands of Catchacoma Forest with naturalist guides, and practice some forest meditation exercises!

Meeting place is the parking lot trailhead off County Rd 507, 2km north of Catchacoma Marina. RSVP for map.

While we strive to make this a family-friendly event, unfortunately the trails are not stroller or wheelchair accessible. The hike will be approx. 4 km in total. Ages 6+ recommended. There are no washrooms on site.
